This study was completed in June 2004 with HydroQual Laboratories Limited and ZEP Manufacturing of Canada. Its purpose was to perform an antibacterial efficacy test on a specific Esporta detergent intended for use in the Esporta Wash System to properly clean and sanitize sports team equipment.
Four bacterial species were chosen to represent a typical bacterial environment: Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus (formerly Streptococcus) faecium.
The test results showed a minimum of 99.99% kill efficacy for these four types of bacteria after 10 minute exposure at 30°C. These results further confirmed that Esporta Wash System detergent was a highly effective antibacterial agent for its intended use in washing of soiled sporting equipment and uniforms.
Enterococcus faecium..............99.9976% of 208,000 MPN/mL
Escherichia coli..........................99.9979% of 242,000 MPN/mL
Pseudomonas aeruginosa.........99.9997% of 180,000 MPN/mL
Staphylococcus aureus.............99.9999% of 427,000 CFU/mL
